This is very modern recipe that I have adapted to be less sweet and a bit stronger.

Recipe

  • 3.5 cups white wine
  • 3.5 cups lemon juice
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1.75 cups brandy
  • 2 limes
  • 2 lemons
  • 4 cups water

Steps

Combine the white wine, lemon juice, brandy, and water.

Add the sugar and stir or shake.

Add the juice and zest of the lemons and limes.

Pour into container (if you are not already using a jug, I use the leftover jugs from my hippocras recipe for the entire process).

Shake regularly for the next few days before chilling and serving.

Note: This recipe lends itself very well to mixing with various fruits. I have had great success with blackberries and blueberries.
